Testimonials: How Other People Feel About Dr. Jing Shen and Life Essentials TCM Center
For five years, I battled chronic, debilitating lower-back and left-leg pain due to degenerative disc disease in my lower back (L5-S1 area). After five-plus years of seeking treatment from a string of MDs and physical therapists, and devoting myself to their prescribed regiments including long-term physical therapy, oral steroids and rounds of epidural steroid injections, I still had no relief. If anything, my symptoms had worsened. Fed up with the pain and suffering, my husband and I met with yet another orthopedic surgeon who recommended spinal fusion -- a very involved, painful procedure that requires months of recovery. Thinking that this procedure -- however horrible it sounded -- was my “last resort”, my husband and I all but agreed to it while in the doctor’s office. But once home, I decided I’d make one more “last ditch effort” to avoid this major surgery. I had heard and read about acupuncture but never tried it….But if there was a time to start, this would be it. I was willing to try almost anything to avoid “the knife”. I met with Dr. Jing Shen just days after our visit with the orthopedic surgeon. After one 45 minute session with Dr. Jing, my pain, which was an eight on a one-to-ten scale, was significantly reduced and almost obsolete! After about two months of regular visits, my pine, which had taken a hefty a toll on my psyche and personal and professional lives for years, was GONE. I regularly refer to acupuncture with Dr. Jing as my “miracle cure”. Dr. Jing is a compassionate, attentive practitioner whom I would trust with any health concern. I highly recommend Dr. Jing Shen as an acupuncturist and herbalist and the whole of Life Essentials for its highest quality of services. ——— Amy R., St. Louis, MO
I started seeing Dr. Shen in Nov 2010 after my sister recommended her. I have been suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) since 2004 after a colon resection. I had talked to my surgeon about this problem and he offered me no hope, saying that it was a symptom of my surgery. I was devastated and felt hopeless. After years of suffering I was at the end of my rope.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Shen one and off for one year now and I could not be happier with how I feel. I started acupuncture and Chinese Herbs after I had a face lift. You have to stop taking all vitamins for one month when you do this. So after one month I though what better time (when my system was clean) to give this a chance and see if it makes a difference. Well, yes it does!! After my first visit and two doses of Herbs, I felt great. The treatments and herbs are made up for “you” only for what is on with your body at that time.

I am with pain in my neck for more then ten years. After seeing chiropractors and orthopedic doctors without results, I didn’t know what else to do. I now realize that while it is not an immediate process taking a pill, several visits to life Essentials has relieved me of my chronic neck pain, more recent discomfort in my hip and raised my overall energy level. Dr. Jing Shen is steeped in the Chinese medicinal tradition which I believe is a better overall approach to wellness. I would recommend her insights for a wide variety of health issues. ——— Jonathan B. (St. Louis, MO)
In one visit Dr. Jing Shen helped relieve a horrible cold and an issue with my lower back. She has also helped me with more chronic conditions such as menstruation pain and my sore hip. I feel like a different person and highly recommend Life Essentials Center for anyone from daily aches and pains to more serious health problems. ——— Amanda P. (St. Louis, MO)
Dr. Jing has been most helpful in helping my body to heal. When I first come to her I had pain in my shoulder, foot, keens, hip, and beck. I clean for a living and I had a lot of pain. I also had headaches and mood swings and hot flashes from menopause. The other day I was Dr. Jing in my car and realized that I was pain-free. Wow that was great. When Dr. Jing works with you she asks questions to make sure she is giving you the right kind of treatment. Be good to yourself and call Dr. Jing and stop the pain in your body. ——— Monica M., St. Louis, MO
I would like to thank Dr. Jing Shen for helping me improve my quality of life. I have way too many challenges due to taking psyche meds for 30 years. I have stopped taking psyche mead and done a lot of exercising on various machines. In spite of that, I still had frequent involuntary shaking that did not let me sit for any amount of time in one place, and I had absolutely no endurance. After many of my first treatment with Dr. Jing, I had dramatic temporary relief. The acupuncture, cupping and herbs that Dr. Jing has given me directly for Parkinson’s symptoms have helped me a lot. After 6 months, I can go somewhere and expect to be able to endure sitting and being sociable for hours at a time. ——— Thelma G., St. Louis, MO
I was so lucky to find Dr. Jing Shen to help me maintain a pain-free life. After two back surgeries and a recent shoulder surgery, I still lead an active life and owe my own business. After several months of physical therapy following major rotator cuff repair, my doctor complained that I had a frozen shoulder, and that I had not done enough. Pain had stopped me from pushing harder. I went to Dr. Jing for acupuncture and herbs, and I have better flexibility than my doctor told me to expect. I really appreciate that, even when I do not have major issues to address, Dr. Jing keeps me feeling well and participating fully in my life. She is a true gift. ——— Gert B., St. Louis, MO
For the past year, I have been a patient of Jing Shen, L.A.C, and the Life Essentials Center. Thanks to the acupuncture and herbal treatment provided by Jing Shen, I have experienced significant improvement in the circulation in my legs for the fist time in years. I have been a diabetic for more than 40 years and a coronary artery disease for more than 20 years. Since having bypass surgery nearly 20 years ago, I have been experiencing pain in my legs and my mobility has become increasingly limited. I was told by medical doctors that the nerves in my legs were the problem and that there was nothing they could do about it. About three years ago, the pain got so bad I wasn’t able to so the things I enjoyed most – cutting the grass in my yard or even walking 150 yards on the golf course – without experiencing such intense pain that I would have to sit down. Cutting my ¼ acre yard was not possible without six to eight breaks and any incline at all was nearly impossible. I was referred to a neurologist for consultation on the nerves in my legs but was told that they were beyond repair and nothing could be done. Seeking relief any way possible, I decided to try a more holistic approach and began researching acupuncture. After consultation with Jing Shen, it was determined that a combination of acupuncture and herbal treatment would be the best treatment to relieve my pain. Like my medical doctors, Jing Shen also advised me to improve my diet to maximize the impact of my treatments-something I’ve not done consistently in my more than 40 years as a diabetic. During the first two acupuncture treatments, I was not able to feel the needles being inserted to my legs, but by the thirds treatment, the feeling in my legs had started to return a little and I was able to begin feeling the needles. I was also noticing that I could cut the grass with fewer breaks. I received treatment twice a week for approximately six months and began taking herbal treatment after the first month. During this time, the feeling in my legs continued to improve. Ironically, I was beginning to experience pain in my feet which I believe was due to the improved function of the nerves in my legs. I believe that prior to the acupuncture treatments, the nerves in my feet were completely nonfunctioning making it impossible for me to feel any kind of sensitivity to hot, cold, or pain. As a diabetic, it was reassuring to have feeling in my feet again. I am grateful to Jing Shen for the true relief she has been able to provide me through the use of acupuncture and herbal treatments. It has improved the quality of my life significantly and in ways that are currently not possible with more traditional medicine. ——— Joseph C., St. Charles, MO
Infertility Success Story with TCM by Donna, Troy, MO
Endometriosis and Infertility: I’ve been suffering with the pain caused by endometriosis since September 2004. I remember because it was a shockingly painful period. That month I thought maybe it had been a one time experience but when it happened again the following month I consulted my doctor. From that point on I saw my general practitioner, then an urologist, a gynecologist and finally a reproductive endocrinologist. None of them could cure me or stop the pain. One time I fainted from the pain while I was in the shower…not a very safe place to go unconscious! Over the years I’ve made two trips to the ER because the pain was beyond what I could take………..read more click here
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— I am woman who is in her fifties. I had my aches and pains but nothing I could handle. I periodically would go to my chiropractor and he’d fix me up and I would be good for months on end. But that was all short lived, after a student thought it would be funny to jump up on the front of me, wrapping his legs around my hips and his arms around my neck. By doing this he sprained and strained every muscle in my body from my head to my toes. Because of this incident I had to retire early from my job. After almost three years of being in constant pain, seven different doctors, three sessions of physical therapy, pain management center, massage therapy, I was out of specialists when my sister led me to her massage therapist who then led me to Dr. Jing Shen, acupuncturist. I was a little scared but my son who had a skiing incident while in Japan strained his back so his good friend sent to his family’s acupuncturist and his pain was gone by the time he left. He convinced me to go and I’m so glad I did. I have three bulging disc, chronic upper and lower back pain, nerve pain in my left knee, and chronic sciatica in my hips. I’m very active person and all of this pain was really getting me down. I was dizzy sometimes, off balance and generally just didn’t feel right. Dr. Jing was a godsend. After a few weeks of acupuncture and personalized special blend of herbs, I felt like some of my old self started coming back. Dr. Jing made me feel so comfortable and she explained everything that she was doing and why. She is compassionate and knowledgeable about her practice. It’s amazing when she informs you of how the body works. I’ve learned so much about how important nutrition is in the healing process. She’s taught me how one part of the body affects the other and how acupuncture can fix that. I can’t say enough about her and how I feel after a session. At one point after a few weeks I experienced a total release. It was a heavenly feeling of no pain. ——— Respectfully: Donna V, St. Louis, MO |
